The agreement also sees DRG acquire global distribution rights Zig Zag’s ‘Killing Michael Jackson’, a 1 x 60’ documentary film that explores the circumstances around the death and aftermath of global pop icon Michael Jackson. This film will now become part of DRG’s launch slate at MIPCOM.
Led by CEO Danny Fenton, Zig Zag Productions has produced over 750 hours of non-scripted programming, including highly popular series such as ‘Troy’, ‘I Wanna Marry Harry’, ‘The Football Show’, ‘Japandemonium’, ‘Blink’ and ‘The Next Jamie Vardy’.
Covering scripted and unscripted content, as well as formats, DRG has built its reputation by working closely with a wide range of internationally recognised production companies, as well as by using its expertise in the domestic and international markets to help incubate promising start-ups. The business began as a content distributor in 2007, evolving into a 360-degree content business that today is focused on programme origination and development, financing, talent, production, production services and distribution.
Mette Kanne-Behrendsen, DRG’s SVP acquisitions comments: “Danny and the team at Zig Zag Productions have a real talent for producing creative, bold and headline-grabbing programming. We are excited to have established this new relationship with them and look forward to bringing our full support and international expertise so that we can deliver a fantastic raft of new content to the market, and benefit both our businesses.”
